A Question for the Writers

This is something I've always wanted to ask about, mainly because I struggle with this as an idea for my writing.     In magic-based systems, how do magic and nature play together? Do they play nicely, or is there some sort of conditional agreement?     To be clear, I have an idea of how my fantasy world (the one I worked on for literally a decade) worked, but I am curious on how other people answer the question.      This is a short post, but I would welcome any answer on any form of social media you can find me on, or in the comments below.

ROFL

"Heavenly Father, I have an idea."     He leans down and stares at the angel in front of Him. "Ah, little Antoinette. It is good to see you again. What is this idea you seem to have?"     The little angel sways side to side, like a small child trying to be sweet, "You know we have the Easter celebrations coming up on Earth, and the day after that is April 1."     "Ah, yes. April 1. The day that some people celebrate as a day for light-hearted pranks and general amusements. A good day for it, considering." He laughs. "Yes, I know what you mean."     "And you know Lucifer has been really sneaky with his schemes to test the humans on Earth for such a long time now."      "He has." He squints His eyes at her. "What are you suggesting, little angel?"     "Well... what if we make Lucifer a human for a day? You know, take him to a more human level? Maybe then he won't test the humans so much." ...

Memories

So, for context, I have a large Spotify playlist. It's more than 500 songs, and they range from classical to electro-swing to Epic Rap Battles of History to stuff I used to listen to when I first got introduced to the internet. It truly is a wide variation of things that I just get to enjoy during my down time or especially while I'm at work.      Lately, Maroon 5's "Memories" has been popping up a lot during my work time. In the past, I wouldn't really think twice about a song like this, but now that I'm dealing with a lot of my emotions and past, this song has been getting to me. Mostly on the front of the versus. If you have never heard this song before, I would highly recommend a listen.      As I said, this song is getting to me. It talks mostly about how memories bring back other memories, especially of a particular person. For my personal experience, it brings back two people I've mentioned, and one that I've kind of kept off my blog. T...

The Eventide Hunt

"You know, you never said what person we were going after. I mean, for all we know, it's some dumb lowlife who can't keep their mind in between their ears."     Theron regretted his choices as soon as those words left his underling's mouth. He paused and tried to keep his inner tide of anger from surging through. He turned to the underling -a simple short fellow with a shovel and a torch- and simply replied, "We are going after someone very important to the madness we are all enduring."     "What? The Devil himself?" The fellow laughed. The others behind him chuckled in low tones. If it wasn't for the fact that this man was popular, Theron wouldn't have the manpower to even attempt what he was about to do. But he knew just how to get their attention.      "The Devil? Certainly. But it is not a man; it is a woman." Theron states.      The group grows quiet, but Theron can feel their tension stir. "A woman?" Some...
