Jouska Moments

Jouska: The imaginary and often lively conversation that you carry out in your head between yourself and someone else.

It is not unusual for me to experience this on a regular basis. It doesn't make me different than anyone else; I actually feel like I'm pretty normal in that aspect. There are some moments, however, where this sweet bliss of jouska demands to become more than a personal conversation. It demands to be written down on paper, or -in this case- typed out.

Here are some of the ones I've had in the last year. Specific names (either real or online names) are left out on purpose:

Look, I get it. It's hard to live your life when you really want to be with someone. But that's not all there is to this life. It really isn't. I mean, if you want to focus on that, go for it. I can't and won't stop you. But... I mean really? Come on, my dude. There are far more interesting things than spending time with another human.

~

Person: I hate being told I'm normal. I'm not normal.
Me: Oh really? Do you breathe oxygen?
P: I mean, yeah.
M: And do you blink with your eyes?
P: Of course...
M: So then you are just like everyone else. You're honestly not that special.
P: But I am!
M: Just ... stop. Seriously. Just enjoy your life. Don't worry about being special or different.

Alright ... buddy ... seriously. I get that you are depressed about stuff going on with your online popularity. I get that you don't want to feel that way anymore and you want to change. But dude ... if you aren't going to change something to reflect who you are and actively keep doing that on the regular, then you might as well give up on the nonsense you are trying to do. Things aren't going to work out if you don't actively and consistently commit to doing things the way you want to. Sure, not everyone will be as interested in it as you. Sure, it may not get your the fifteen minutes of fame you might want. But it's a hell of a lot better than both of those things combined. Who cares about all of the fame and the popularity if you are not doing something you love to do? You think actors and actresses take on roles they don't want? You think major CEOs actively go to work hating what they are doing? NO! They go out, hunt down what they like, and consistently try to do what they want, no matter what everyone else (especially us common folk) think.

As much as I would like to continue writing these down, these are the only ones I care to write. There are many others, like I said. These three barely tap into my rabbit hole of jouska moments like this without taking me fully down and into an emotional well of rage and disgust for people. So I will leave it at that.

Maybe, for the end of the year, I will finally get over all of this and I will be emotionally detached from other people's distress when it is not something I need to be directly involved with this.

Why did I write this out? Well, 1) I needed to vent these things, but I didn't think they were worth a whole post; and 2) I just wanted to. I didn't really feel like writing much else while I'm in the middle of making blankets and trying to get through work.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas or holiday season. I will be back with one last post at the end of the year.
