Going Street Level

"So, if Ani wants to do Canlanma on a street level, we will want to direct her toward these types of entities." The Walker concludes a rather long speech.   "Curious yet agreeable assessment." The Angel comments. "Do you think any of them have connections to Ani's Forlorn life?"   "Some do. Some don't. It's a mixed bag."   "Oh, good. I don't want all of them to get big egos."   "Very true. And they have a variety as far as their other demogrpahics."   "Even better." The Angel grins, "This list looks good. Did Gen approve of it?"   "It's Gen. She will grant permission for stuff that Ani wants to do, no matter what." The Walker sighs, "Of course, that means I had to get Lord Spymaster Ulric to aid Ani in this."   "Ah. I see. That explains his recent conversations with Ani."   "That among other current events for both of them."   "Indeed. Stil...

Podcasts That Have Helped Me Through Quarantine

I would highly recommend the following podcasts to help you through your quarantine. They certainly helped me through mine so far!  1) The Bible Project      Even with my deep roots in my Lutheran heritage, this podcast really makes me question what I know. It keeps my faith fresh and alive.   2) The Chilluminati Podcast     If I ever need something new to think about for a story, these three usually give me a great springboard. Alex, Jesse, and Mathas know what they are doing and they do it well.    3) Cox N' Crendor Show     Need a laugh? Want to just sit and pretend you are eavesdropping on a radio recording session? These two know how to put a smile on my face. They remind me how precious a long-term friendship is.   4) New Mindset, Who Dis?     It is extremely nice to have one voice in your life to show you some perspective! Case Kenny helps me get out of my mental cycles and refresh my brain.  ...

Dead Time

"Things are getting weird again, aren't they?" An angel-like being appears in my work area. Its metallic wings give it away.    "Ah, Dominion Renegade. A pleasure to see you." I greet with a nod while I try to write. "This is a strange appearance. Is something going on?"   Renegade collapses her wings and slouches on the nearby sofa. "Nothing's going on. That's the weird thing."   I shrug. "The strings of time sometimes dull with their wear and tear. Or dull with the perception of a lack of excitement from their observer, or the collective participants."   Renegade stares at me. "I wasn't expecting that. You sound like Gen."   "I'm not wrong though." I turn a page in my book. "But you are right. Things to feel a bit boring right now."   We sit in silence for a while as I finish writing and switch over to my computer to build the Minecraft version of Renegade's world. Renegade picks...

Book Review #7

Book Review Whip and Spur Written by Iver Arnegard   Love and hate. Joy and sorrow. Intensity and numbness. Both are in the whip and spur.   I have a bias  in favor of this book. Whip and Spur comes from Iver Arnegard, who is one of my favorite instructors at the college I attended (the other being Juan Morales). With that in mind, I read Whip and Spur  for a second time.    My basic notes:   - Whip and Spur feels vulnerable and raw to the experiences of love an individual can have. A lot of them are not pleasant experiences, but they are still important to recognize and feel through this book.    - There may be a tone in Whip and Spur that makes how the main protagonist expresses themselves feel as distant and cold as the environments they find themselves in. It feels like a theme for this book, but I am not certain due to my own biases in reading books through the perspective of their authors (which sometimes is what you need ...
