Dead Time

"Things are getting weird again, aren't they?" An angel-like being appears in my work area. Its metallic wings give it away.

"Ah, Dominion Renegade. A pleasure to see you." I greet with a nod while I try to write. "This is a strange appearance. Is something going on?"

Renegade collapses her wings and slouches on the nearby sofa. "Nothing's going on. That's the weird thing."

I shrug. "The strings of time sometimes dull with their wear and tear. Or dull with the perception of a lack of excitement from their observer, or the collective participants."

Renegade stares at me. "I wasn't expecting that. You sound like Gen."

"I'm not wrong though." I turn a page in my book. "But you are right. Things to feel a bit boring right now."

We sit in silence for a while as I finish writing and switch over to my computer to build the Minecraft version of Renegade's world. Renegade picks up several books to read but puts them down in boredom. "Why does time have to feel so dead in this mortal world?"

Renegade's insistence on calling time dead reminds me of a thing from Daily Stoic. "Well, maybe you can use your 'dead time' to see what you need to stop procrastinating on." I look back to see her insulted expression. "You're tied to a mortal, so you're still going to share the traits."

"Hey, Renegade! Amethyst needs our help!" A sky pirate calls from down the hallway.

"Sweet. Finally. Something to do." Renegade hops up and goes toward the voice.

All falls silent again. I look to my dog as she sleeps. "I guess I am the only one who likes 'dead time.' Oh well." I comment as I keep building.
