Based on a Laugh
This little scene is based on a laugh I was having with family yesterday. I will explain at the end.
~
The pot shatters on the ground. I can hear it from out here in the garden. Then I can hear my daughter and her friend argue.
"Your mom is going to be mad at you!" The friend gasps.
"No she won't. I wasn't the one who broke it." My daughter says.
"Yes you did! Don't lie about it."
"I am not lying! You broke it, and now you're lying about it."
"Why would you say that? You know, lying makes people impure."
"You are lying! Now your family will have to go to the temple to pay for your impurity!" I chuckle at my daughter's knowledge of our laws.
"Nuh-uh! My father and grandfather already took care of that for me. I am pure already." The friend stomps her foot into the ground.
"They did not! That is now how the laws work!"
"Of course it is! Do you know who my father and grandfather are?"
"They're just priests."
"Just priests?!" The friend repeats in offence. I take in a sharp breath and pray that their storm passes quickly.
"Do you know who MY father and grandfather are?" I can already see my daughter with her hands on her hips.
"My family told me that your father was unwell and your grandfather was a gullible carpenter."
"That is not true! My dad is a very special man of our god, and my grandfather is the creator of everything!"
"That is not true! You are just as unwell as your father!"
"It is true! You just don't want to believe me!" My daughter yells.
There is a silence between them. I hold my breath and hope nothing else gets broken. I hear my husband walk toward them. "I don't want to argue about it. It is useless." The friend sighs, "I do not want to play with you anymore. I am going home. Thank you for inviting me." I see the child walk out and head back to her home closer to the temple. My daughter cries and starts to pick up some of the pieces of the pot. My husband walks to her. I peek inside to see my husband on one knee, hugging her.
"Do not be afraid, my child. You and your friend are forgiven." He helps her pick up the rest of the broken pot. "Let's fix the pot together." I can see her nod and smile a little as they walk to the other side of our home.
~
This little scene came out of my head after I asked my family, "But what if Jesus decided to have a family?" I was rather hyper when I went off on this tangent thought and ended up with something like this in my head. There was a lot of more sass yesterday than this, but I figured this would be more appropriate for the blog.
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Love and Strength,
Animus
