The Abandoned Series, Part 1 [Repost]

Author's Note: This is just a small run of an old series. I just want to see 1) who reads my fictional stuff, and 2) who remembers/is familiar with any of this. This was a super small 4-parter that I wrote back in 2016 on my old blog "Ani's Got A Cup Of...", so enjoy!

1: Starting New and Abandoned

I wake on the floor of a rather nice, elaborate room made of white quartz and stunning stained glass. I don't really remember much of what brought me here. Something about "going to do some work in a new world" from some crazy old man. Now that I think about it, this man wasn't necessarily old... but he was sure crazy.

"Ani, Ani, are you awake now?"

I jolt my head in the sound of the direction of the male voice, seeing a man wearing a t-shirt and ... were those heart-pattern boxers hanging by suspenders? I blink to try and understand what I was looking at.

"Ani! Guys, Ani is awake now!"

Before I can ask a question, a couple of other people walk into the area. I recognize one of them faintly, but not completely. "What am I doing here?"

"Well, UFOG brought you over to the new world he has created." One of the people answer in a German accent. I can't tell who that is, considering everyone has diamond armor on. I can barely see their faces between the armor and the haze of my memory.

"UFOG?" I repeat, still in the haze.

The man turns his head to me. "You okay, Ani?"

"I am.... not sure." I mutter, rubbing my head.

"Look what you did, UFOG!" The other person -a female for sure- cries with a New Zealand accent. "You just snatched Ani up, knocked her out cold, then left her on the ground without thinking about her poor little brain. Come on, Ani."

The two people help me up and I dust off my clothes while I look around. It looks rather nice, for a start. This is obviously a tour center of some sort, made to look like a beautiful fountain. Water is everywhere, and I am tempted to jump in and wash this dirty feeling off my body. I jump into the water and take a bit of a bath, allowing every bit of me to become soaking wet and feel cleaner than just a moment ago. I jump out and shake like a dog, drying myself instantly. I look at the company I have gained a little better now. "This is a nice place, UFOG. Who helped you make it?"

UFOG laughs in relief. "Black did."

  "Black?"

"I mean, I helped." The German voice says, walking toward UFOG. "I didn't have the ideas, but I did my best to make them possible."

UFOG claps his shoulder. "And Wizz helped a little, but she was mostly busy doing her own project for me."

"Or messing around with the others." The New Zealander laughs as she crosses over to my side. "You know, the usual."

I laugh, no sure of what do with myself. I am starting to remember why I was asked to come here. "So, is there a farm I need to be taking care of?"

UFOG jumps up the stairs in excitement. "There is! I had someone help me build it for you. She called herself Amethyst, and-"

I sigh. Amethyst, wonderful but annoying Amethyst. She is curious about my companionship with UFOG and the friends I have made through him. She is one of my many companions I have found through my writing; it appears that she wants to enter my gaming as well. "Yes, Amethyst. I will speak with her later. Where is it?"

"It's on an island nearby." Black smiles. "Come on, we'll show you around."

We leave the town center and run for a few miles before leaving in two boats. UFOG joins me in one, while Black and Wizz row in the other. Even before we got into the boats, I could see the fuzzy outline of a rather neatly-kept island. As we reached the halfway point between the two, the island became more clear and more beautiful than I thought Amethyst could produce.

"Amethyst did a really nice job in preparing this for you while you were gone." UFOG beams, admiring her simple style and choice in materials. "Where were you, by the way?"

I shake my head. I hazily remember pain and crying, and a few bouts of anger, but nothing more than that. What was I doing? I don't bother trying to remember as I row onto the shore UFOG points me to.

As I get out of the boat, I can see a guest room in place. It is a very simple one, and it looks cozy for a couple or someone just looking for a place to sleep. UFOG jumps out and collects the boat before jumping onto the shore.

Wizz and Black come around the other side to take a picture of the protected farmland. "Amethyst made a lot of protected farms to make sure a farm was always available and mostly protected from the natural enemies of the island. You know, the zombies and skeletons and whatnot." Wizz grins from ear to ear. "Amethyst seemed to realize how awesome your double-decker design was and mimicked it here."

I take a look at it myself and wonder just how much time Amethyst was on here. This seemed like a lot of work. "What kinds of crops does it have right now?"

"I don't know." Black shrugs. "She did mention that she had some nether wart and mushrooms in there, but no melons or pumpkins yet. I think she used all her pumpkins to make pumpkin pie."

  I facepalm. Typical Amethyst.

"Maybe we can put some of them in the storehouse for you." UFOG suggests, pointing to a storehouse up on the hill.

The storehouse seems small from the angle we were at, but I knew Amethyst made it bigger than it needed to be for a start. The crops cascading down the front of the building looks eerily familiar to a design I was trying to work on for a different idea.

"Amethyst said something about you wanting an automatic farm in front just so you can have fun harvesting crops this way." UFOG continues. "She thought having fun on the farm would be good for you so you don't have to feel like you are working all the time."

I smirk at the thought. It would be Amethyst to think about the balance of work and play on this server. She has been concerned about that a lot for me, but she never went out of her way to make sure that was what happened.

"We also made sure you had a nice sugarcane farm to get you started." Black jokes as I look at the fenced off area. "Oh, and Rev made you a coco bean farm too!"

"Rev?" I repeat, confused by the new name.

"Oh, yeah, another new guy." UFOG quickly answers, dismissing my desire to know more. They lead me over toward my new house and the small plot of coco beans lining the front area.

I look at the center one and notice a pressure plate on the wood floor. "What is this for?"

"Oh, Rev wanted you to be able to shake that tree." Wizz comments.

I look more confused. "Shake the tree?"

Black and UFOG chuckle. "Seems like Amethyst wanted you to have some more fun than you planned for." UFOG coughs through the chuckles.

"Wonderful." I roll my eyes. "Just what I needed."

"Anyway, welcome home!" Black waves his hand in a grand gesture.

The house was just as simple as the guest house, but a bit more to my taste. Meant for the single life I wanted to lead on this world, without any extra decoration or design that didn't need to be there.

"It's beautiful." I finally say, still in awe of my new little home.

"It's as if you made it yourself, Ani." UFOG comment off-handedly. I want to add in a comment about Amethyst and I's connection, but I stop. No need to confuse him with my own business.

"Welcome to your farm, Ani." Wizz smiles.

"Welcome to your farm." Black nods in agreement.

UFOG comes to my side and gently touches my shoulder. "Welcome home, Ani."

I turn around and glance at my new oasis. I would have to thank Amethyst for this later. For now, I needed to farm, and I needed to farm fast. There is a lot of people to feed.
