2: Addicted to Christmas

 It takes a long time before I could get back into the swing of being in a community. Thanks to other old friends like Ballzz, Churro, Zaring, BT, Mosin, Wolfie, and Lost, I get back into farming for everyone. Slowly, I get a system started to help out the server. It's still going -maybe not as fast as I would like it to, but it's getting there.


  Amethyst swings by Renegade and I's farm just before my communicator begins to buzz. "Hey, your friends want you to swing by the world spawn." She says.


  "Really? How did you figure that out?" Renegade huffs.


  Amethyst and I roll her eyes. Renegade's a bit grouchy lately, for some odd reason or another. I nod and grab my communicator to put in the earpiece and flip open the screen. "What's the occasion?"


  Amethyst smirks. "A Christmas tree that Ballzz wants to show off."


  "Ah, alright." I smile and put the earpiece in before I tune into the right voice channel. I look down to see a few people in there already. "I guess I better tune in." I look back to Renegade as she tends to the farm. "Are you going to be okay here?"


  Renegade nods without a word. I whisper to Amethyst, "Keep an eye on her for me, will you?" Amethyst smiles and gives a nod as I go through the portal and head toward the wonderful spawn and whatever awaited me there.




  What waited for me was flying fools.


  Well, I say fools, but I know they aren't foolish. Just giddy with excitement between the new toys they have and the Christmas surprise.


  "Ani, Ani!" Lost says, running up to me. "Here!" He hands me a whole package of sixty-four rockets labelled Flying Rockets. 


  I look at them with a startled glance. "What are these for?"


  "What do you think?" Churro laughs, swooping past me, shooting a rocket or two to keep himself in the air. I chuckle and put the rockets in my bag. I see Wolf and BT doing something similar, landing near or into the giant Christmas tree in the center of all the high spirits. It stood taller than I thought at first, with giant ornaments and a giant glowstone star on top. I am pretty impressed by this. "Is this the tree?" I ask.


  "Well, the tree for spawn," Ballzz laughs, "But it's not the big thing I wanted to show everyone. Actually, do we have everyone ready to go?"


  "Yep." Churro lands near me, nearly freaking me out. "And I'm going to stream this to the communicator so Rev can watch it later."


  "Aw, Rev is not going to make it?" I frown.


  "He's got work, remember?" Mosin reminds me as he sprints over to the group.


  "Oh, right." I laugh in embarrassment. "So, where we going?"


  "Out to the ice biome!" Ballzz exclaims, taking off toward a different portal.



   I do my best to keep up, and -even if I got lost earlier- I still find my way to the right place. I am not really aware of where we are, except for the fact that it is midday, and I'm ready to see what the surprise is.


  "Alright, just let me put the pressure plate, and Ballzz can step on it." Churro chuckles as he rifles through his bag for the wooden pressure plate he made.


  As the rest of the group looks around, I keep an eye on the area around them. I would hate for them to get distracted by something.


  Soon after, Ballzz steps on the pressure pad, and I hear Christmas carols being played on note-blocks. It nod my head in time with the music and look up to see candy canes and a decorative Christmas tree.



  As night falls and the snow trickles in, I can't help but grin and hum the music. It's so nice to finally feel like Christmas has started this year. 


  "So, what do you guys think?" Ballzz asks. 


  "This is the best Christmas surprise ever!" Wolf answers excitedly. 


  "Definitely!" Mosin agrees. 


  Everyone else chimes in with similar responses. 


  "What about you, Ani?" I hear Zaring ask. 


  I tear up a little, then wipe my eyes before answering. "This made my Christmas so far." I look over to Ballzz. "Thank you."


  "You're welcome, Ani." Ballzz puts a hand on my shoulder as we watch the tree and listen to the music. 



   I see my communicator flashing with messages from Renegade and Amethyst. Apparently they are driving each other crazy. I laugh, set my communicator to silent messages, and keep watching for a moment longer as snowball fights and a glance into the hardware go around me. I just wanted to sit back and just watch as I thought about my year and where I was. Maybe I just needed to make a little space like that for me on the farm. I shrug to myself at the thought, then realize that Churro used some of his magic to take me back to spawn. I was a little sad about it, but there was work to be done.


  I turn my messages back on and feel the instant flurry of messages. They are both complaining about each other (which is normal) and saying they want to burn the farm down because of how simple but boring it is (which is also normal). I message them back and make my way to my portal. "See you guys later!" I call back to everyone as I step through.


  "Bye Ani!" Zaring and everyone else reply. 


  I smile as the portal takes me back. I am just really happy that these are my friends.

Canlanma Street Level, Story 1

Story 1    The holy incense follows the disciples out of the gilded temple hall. The Shepherd continues to swing the burner as he repeats the old mantras of the faith. The last disciple leaves and the burner settles as the Shepherd contemplates the list of rituals he must perform before the sun sets. The ritual implements have to be cleaned, the sacrifices burned, the acolytes of the temple purified, the-   "Shepherd Thanatos, we have a situation that requires your attention." An acolyte of the temple calls from below the altar. The Shepherd sighs and recites his calming mantra: "What I am about to do has not been approved." The Shepherd walks slowly behind the altar and finds the symbol on the side as he recites "chao regnat" under his breath. The symbol glows and opens a trap door under the altar.
