Generosity

Generosity is a strangely simple concept with infinitely complex results.   On Tuesday, I was treated to a hot tea by a co-worker. Why did I get this gift? I have no idea. I was just cleaning and being pleasant with everyone who comes into the offices. Yet there I was with a hot tea waiting for me.    Sometimes the generosity takes a long time to manifest. For example, one of the kids I helped guide through some drama is now unfolding into a very mature young adult. What I saw as a mopey, dramatic teenage creature is now a chill, beautiful young adult creature with the potential to be a wonderful adult. The generosity of time and advice gave a gift that I am and will be eternally grateful for.  In the end, generosity has been the focus of my thoughts the last four or five months. It has been a really weird experience for me.

A Tribute

Image
I bought you both in 2015.    Just as my world     opened up     showed it edges     gave me hope.  My microphone became a megaphone     my telegram     my printing press. My headphones held solitute     peace     and serenity in the midst of chaos.  Life went on     My microphone and headphones remained.  They brought me through stress     calamity     tragedy. Yet also happiness     fulfillment     comedy. Now they will rest. A part of my memory     a legacy     a piece of my journey. May the next microphone bring as much expression and clarity. May the next headphones bring as much listening and understanding.

Curious Moment

"You know, watching you actually straighten and solidify my history is sparking my curiosity."   I look to Renegade. It's the first time she has said anything all day. She has been my private company all day, especially when I am not talking to anyone else. She read a book or meditated while I was busy at work or taking my breaks. "Oh yeah?" is the only response I can give as I busy myself with writing in my journal.    She looks back at me with what appears to be either pity or sympathy. "You should get some proper sleep tonight."   I blink in astonishment. Normally she isn't this motherly or even caring toward anyone. Most of her character is cold and rigid for the most part. It makes me wonder what caused this small and temporary shift. "I will after I call my boyfriend." There is a really long pause.   "Good. You need more sleep tonight." Renegade states and returns to her book.    I want to study her curiosity about my cu...

First Draft Prologue to "Renegade"

This is a rough prologue/connecting thread between two sets of stories. One is the novel I am currently working on. The other -well, I'll let you figure it out.  ~   The chrysalis sits in a mixture of rubble and water. It is not the best entrance an immortal entity has made. The temple around them is slowly rebuilding itself with the help of some builders. The head of the temple stares at the chrysalis and ponders what could be inside. The barely visible etchings might reveal a clue. Some footsteps signal the entrance of someone behind him. "Ambassador Azarius, what shall we do with the crystal?"   The ambassador looks behind him to the head of the temple this chrysalis crashed through. He tried not to stare for too long. "With your help, Shepherd Thanatos, I would like to take this chrysalis to the Creator's Temple and into the hot springs."   "The Creator's Temple?" repeats Thanatos in a concerned tone. "Did you ask for her permissio...
