Description:

Small turtle species measuring 7.5 cm when fully grown. Shell is a delicate flower in various colors that hardens into scales when hit or dropped. They have no visible eyes or mouth. Current population is 100. No known deaths from poachers or predators.

Scholar's Notes:

Flowering Turtles are among the smallest and most adored turtles on Canlanma. They are one of the newest species to appear on the planet, so their origin is still a mystery. Obvious assumptions among entities on Canlanma state they were made by the Creator, but the records of the Creator will not comment on that assumption. Young Flowering Turtles have white flesh and white flowers that gain color and variation depending on diet and location as they age. They live a short life of 10 cycles before dying and leaving their hardened flowers behind. Due to their small size and short life, Eulim experimenters are unable to integrate them into life as Invoked entities. They are strictly referred to as an Impulse entity in Eulim.

There is currently an attempt to domesticate Flowering Turtles by various entities in Canlanma with little success. Hybrid entities seem to have a better chance, but success is still difficult.

Any attempt to take Flowering Turtles out of Canlanma or onto different Strings has resulted in said Flowering Turtles becoming yarn stuffed animals. Further testing and observations must be done.

  1. Monitor 002 population
  2. Discover and track any other 002 populations
  3. Find and experiment on recently deceased 002 body

Canlanma Street Level, Story 1

Story 1    The holy incense follows the disciples out of the gilded temple hall. The Shepherd continues to swing the burner as he repeats the old mantras of the faith. The last disciple leaves and the burner settles as the Shepherd contemplates the list of rituals he must perform before the sun sets. The ritual implements have to be cleaned, the sacrifices burned, the acolytes of the temple purified, the-   "Shepherd Thanatos, we have a situation that requires your attention." An acolyte of the temple calls from below the altar. The Shepherd sighs and recites his calming mantra: "What I am about to do has not been approved." The Shepherd walks slowly behind the altar and finds the symbol on the side as he recites "chao regnat" under his breath. The symbol glows and opens a trap door under the altar.
