Chaotically Contained

"Alright. That's it. I'm done sending you all on RECANI assignments for a little while." I throw my hands up and behind my head. It's been a rather odd two months of watching Gen and Amethyst find and record all of the information they had so far.

"Oh, come on now!" Gen screams at me through the Inane communicator on my desk. "We just barely got started! We have a whole list here!"

    "A whole list?" I ask.

"Yes, with at least over three dozen files ready to be created." Amethyst chimes in.

I wonder if they are both in the same room and conspiring together to do something that's not their original duties. "Three dozen?"

"Over three dozen." Gen corrects me.

"Thirty-nine, to be concise." Amethyst adds.

"There are that many random things in my world-building that no one mentioned to me before?" I wonder as I lean back. Transcribing their first ten from my files to the online catalogue was a bit of a chore that I was happy to get done. To hear that I might have to do more only gives me a headache.

"Well, we figured you knew. After all, you built everything to begin with." I hear Gen explain.

"You do realize that I only built the starting point, and anything else after that is purely based on what you all do to the world after that?" I counter. All I get back is silence. "I don't mettle with the worlds I've created beyond the foundations. After that, my creation is in your hands."

"That actually explains a lot of things." Amethyst responds.

"Good. As it stands, I don't wish to transcribe any more notes from the RECANI files right now. I have too many other things going on right now." I stare around at the library of notebooks and sticky notes covering my desk. "But I will tell you what. If you keep making notes on them, I might eventually come back around to it. Assuming I don't go mad from having to re-write Ora's story for the tenth time in my life."

"Has it really been ten times so far?" Gen inquires. "Because that seems like an exaggeration."

"Three full drafts, six half-assed drafts, and one barely-there draft." I sigh. "Not to mention the countless dreams, daydreams, and plethora of ideas that tumble through my head when I'm not entirely focused on what I'm doing."

"Aw, you really think about her that much?" Amethyst mocks me.

"To be fair, all of you share that problem. I hear too many alternative reality things for all of you." I sit up a little more and move my body around. "I just have to decide which ones to write and record and which ones to throw into the Void. It always sounds easier to do than it actually is."

There is more silence, followed by Amethyst questioning me again, "So, what's the point of all of this then? Between all of our life variants and the RECANI files, what's the point?"

"Hmm? Well, it's to write everything down. After all, with all of the stuff that flutters through my head, I need it to go somewhere that's not the Void."

"Right. That makes sense." Gen hesitates. "Anyway, I think Amethyst and I should be allowed to keep working on the RECANI files. Then you can focus on stuff related to your omniverse's history and all that."

I roll my eyes. "Fine. I guess that would be best. It will give you both something to do since nothing of interest going on right now in Canlanma."

I hear my communicator beep, which tells me they disconnected from our little conversation. I go back to my writing and hope not to get another call for a while.
