Canlanma Street Level, Story 12
Story 12
130 Day, 300 Cycle of Night
Entity: Dejen Stark, Investigative Explorer
Subject: Energies and Their Origins
Today I conclude my investigation on our use of energies and their origins. My investigation took four cycles and a lot of travel around Canlanma and the nomadic Arrunta territory.
My initial investigation came after a reading of the text Histories of the "Supernatural" Forces in the Forlorn and Forgotten Eras by Shepherd Arthur Abraham. The text traces the use of energies in practices centered around terms such as "magic," "supernatural," and "paranormal." I learned that even if entities from those Eras gave technical explanations about these phenomena, it was generally believed to contain a more mystical aspect. I decided after reading this text that I would see if I could discover what the missing link between the mystical aspect of the past and the current understandings of energies.
The current understanding of energies taught by basic schooling is as follows:
Energies are a force that is invisible to raw senses and observations.
Energies can be contained or shaped into physical matter in any form by any person.
Only through intense psychological conditioning can energies be felt or sensed by the brain or body.
These three tenets of our understanding leave some questions that I will ask then summarize.
Question 1: Where do these energies come from?
After consulting with my peers in Eulim, energies come from two main sources: natural elements (e.g. air, earth, water, fire, metal, wood) or from the actions and thoughts of any entity.
Question 2: What are the most common uses for energies?
This answer depends on the culture an entity chooses. Those connected to Ludum, Caelum, and Eulim prefer energies contained in physical everyday objects, including food and drink. Those connected to Peponi and the Starborn Isles (Royal Bloodlines in particular) prefer energies in a more natural state that can be harnessed when needed. The Arrunta nomads prefer a blend between the two previously stated answers. All entities also enjoyed energies contained in crystalline forms because of their ease of use.
Question 3: How are the energies summoned into use?
Summoning or containing energies can occur in two way. One is simply through the thought or action of an individual, though this can result in a drainage of mental stamina. This drainage, if significant, can cause physical abnormalities (e.g. minor or major injuries). The other and more favorable method is through the entities known as Weavers. Weaver entities are born and trained to summon and contain energies into various crystalline forms.
Question 4: Can energies be manifested naturally?
After a conversation with the Creator, I have been informed that energies to manifest naturally in multiple ways, including our own physical beings. Refer to Transcript 129-300N-C for details.
With these answers in mind, my next step will be to learn if there is a single source of these energies. I personally carry the opinion that all forms of energies have a singular source that energizes the two main sources mentioned in Question 1. I do not believe that forces so useful in our daily lives have multiple sources.
End of entry.
