Plans and Projects

   It's finally May! It's time to commit to plans and projects again! Time to let in the fresh air and clean out all of the junk in our lives!

  "And yet here you are, sitting down to play Minecraft." Amethyst laughs bitterly. 

  I glare at her. "Look, I have to finish this mountain range. It's been on my mind at work all week."

  Amethyst studies me as I go back to putting rows of stone into random layers of mountain. Eventually, a friend joins me to finish it. "So, are you ready to get-?" I interrupt her by getting into a voice chatroom on Discord with a couple of people. We talk for hours about stuff for the game and random drama. I can feel her playing with the threads of my life and its alternate realities somewhere behind me. I look over my shoulder to see if I can stop her. 

  Bam!

  I hear a pipe of water burst. I mute my microphone and wake up my family in a panic. We take care of the water and the now busted sprinkler pipe. I sit back down and realize it is almost five in the morning. Part of me wonders if this was Amethyst's doing. I say goodnight to everyone, shut my computer down, and climb into bed. "Are you done messing with me?" I ask her as she prepares to leave. 

  Amethyst sighs. "The burst was random. I just needed you to get out of your chair. You've got a lot to do tomorrow, let alone this month."

  I close my eyes and settle into bed. She has a fair point. It's May, after all. Time for plans and projects.

 This goes to every American who either voted or did not vote recently. If you did not get what you wanted/needed, celebrate with those who did. For the first time in four years, those people may feel seen and valued.  If you did get what you wanted/needed, comfort and/or pray for those who did not. For the first time in four years, those people may feel uncertain and scared of their future.  No matter who you are as an American, please prepare to make the next four years the best they can be for yourself and others. Canlanma Street Level, Story 1

Story 1    The holy incense follows the disciples out of the gilded temple hall. The Shepherd continues to swing the burner as he repeats the old mantras of the faith. The last disciple leaves and the burner settles as the Shepherd contemplates the list of rituals he must perform before the sun sets. The ritual implements have to be cleaned, the sacrifices burned, the acolytes of the temple purified, the-   "Shepherd Thanatos, we have a situation that requires your attention." An acolyte of the temple calls from below the altar. The Shepherd sighs and recites his calming mantra: "What I am about to do has not been approved." The Shepherd walks slowly behind the altar and finds the symbol on the side as he recites "chao regnat" under his breath. The symbol glows and opens a trap door under the altar.
