Down the Rabbit Hole

     I stare blankly at my new phone, waiting for all my apps to finish loading in and getting updated. It took me a long time to work up the nerve to get a new phone, and I'm super happy I got it. The glittery case does make it more shiny. I stare at the Google Play Store menu, waiting for the circles to fill and disappear as each app gets installed, updated, and ready to be messed with. Granted, it will take me the rest of the night to adjust it the way I like, but that can be dealt with.

    "Go meet new people." I hear someone say to me. I turn around and it's Ora, standing behind me with Amethyst. They shrink into mini versions of themselves and sit on my shoulder. 

    "Come again?" I ask.

    "You heard my mom. It's time to go meet new people. Especially guys." Amethyst states as she opens up the Strings of Time and stares at them. Even with that small of a size, it still hurts to look at them. Stupid Time Walker abilities to look at alternate realities and variations.

    "You think I'm ready for that?" 

    "Well, no. But I can't let you sit in your shell and refuse to talk to the outside world all month." Ora comments. "And especially when you have been wanting people to talk to all week that were more local to you."

    "At the bare minimum, in the same state." Amethyst huffs. 

    "Yeah, but if I do that..." I start.

    "We know, we know. Flirty people, friendly people, unsolicited pictures. We get it. But that shouldn't discard the possibilities of meeting some genuine people in this universe. Especially when you are super friend starved right now." Ora rolls her eyes.

    I start to comment, but Amethyst goes, "And no, internet friends don't count this time. As much as you enjoy their company, you know that doesn't always itch that scratch." I hesitate, then nod in agreement. "And yes, you should probably message your other friends at some point too. Especially that one weird one that lives in Alaska right now. You know, the one Renegade likes."

    "Oh, yeah. Arthur. I'll make sure to do that." I make a note to do that tomorrow when I get up. 

    "But yes. Time for new people. As much as you are shy about it, it's time." I agree and find a few social apps to pour some time into when I'm able to. Then I download a bunch of things I wanted for some time. Ora and Amethyst give me quizzical looks, but say nothing.

    So yeah, more social stuff. On top of Discord, Insta, TikTok, Twitter, and Twitch... I decided to jump on Bigo Live, Meet Me, Nextdoor, Reddit, Slowly (again), Spoon, Tumblr (again), and WhatsApp (again). So if you see me around... now you'll know why! 

    I'll figure out what I want to use each of these places for. I want them all to have specific purposes so it doesn't just clutter up my phone again. Also, there are a few places where I might place specific writings, so I'll let people know about that in the future! 

    But yeah, things are feeling much better for me. And I think I know why. I might right about it next week, assuming I remember to write something.

Canlanma Street Level, Story 1

Story 1    The holy incense follows the disciples out of the gilded temple hall. The Shepherd continues to swing the burner as he repeats the old mantras of the faith. The last disciple leaves and the burner settles as the Shepherd contemplates the list of rituals he must perform before the sun sets. The ritual implements have to be cleaned, the sacrifices burned, the acolytes of the temple purified, the-   "Shepherd Thanatos, we have a situation that requires your attention." An acolyte of the temple calls from below the altar. The Shepherd sighs and recites his calming mantra: "What I am about to do has not been approved." The Shepherd walks slowly behind the altar and finds the symbol on the side as he recites "chao regnat" under his breath. The symbol glows and opens a trap door under the altar.
