I Know A Soul (S)

Then again, you’re the soul I know that could sleep through the entire thing and not care about it.

You have always been like that, Acedia. I will admit, it seems nice to be able to just slump into the closest piece of furniture that Avaritia hasn’t stolen for his hoard. You really don’t have a care in the world, do you? You would rather sleep or daydream your way through the freefall of existence as we’ve understood it. All that matters to you is sleep, isn’t it? That actually pisses me off slightly. Your nonchalant attitude is something I wish I could adopt. Then again, I can’t. I have to be the one to keep tabs on all of us. Well, maybe not all of us, but at least most of us.

I remember the first time I ran into you, it was literally running into you. You were staggering along the path like those zombies the new souls have been talking about since they got here. I remember colliding into you. Do you remember what you did, huh? You groaned, collapsed into the ground, and fell asleep. How you were able to find the ground as a suitable sleeping place was astonishing to me. Then again, I wasn’t sure how you were able to sleep to begin with, considering that there’s really no need to sleep. Do you actually enjoy sleeping? I don’t think I have ever seen you do anything with any amount of energy or umph. You even eat with a level of indifference that I have never seen before! And I’m pretty sure you only eat so that way Luxuria doesn’t eat everything. Not that we really have a need to eat here. I guess that’s something I can figure out when I have the time and I’m not helping out the new souls.

When was the last time you actually cared about something? From what I could make out of your mutterings of your physical life, you really didn’t care about anything. Sure, you could fake it when you took the drugs and pretended to be involved in the drama, but at the end of it all you sounded like you didn’t really care. I think you told me that you died in bed with your two cats around you. Your roommate came to check up on you and just found you lying there. Didn’t even realize you were dead until the cats came to them for food instead of you. I didn’t know such indifference and laziness was contagious. I wish you would pass that indifference to me, but you won’t. I know you won’t. Because you don’t care if I am so flighty and snippy with everyone. I know, I know, I probably sound like one of your “haters” that you had in your physical life. I heard you had a lot of them. Then again, I don’t think you really cared about it because it made you a lot of money and it made you a well-known name among those who actually gave any concern toward your well-being. I would say you are almost the size of Luxuria now, even with your lack of food. Perhaps it is the lack of concern for your body. I know you had a rather robust physical body while you were in that universe. It was something I barely got to see before Ira destroyed it. That was a rather rotund figure you had. Not as big as Luxuria’s was before she died, but still! You really did embody your name, didn’t you Acedia?

I wonder what you will do with this sudden freedom to explore Heaven and Hell. I highly doubt you want to make the long journey to the physical universe again. It was hard enough to get here for you, or so I imagine. I highly doubt you want to make that journey again, especially with what Ira has done to it. Now that I think about it, I don’t think you actually care about where you go. As long as you have somewhere to lay without being disturbed, you seem to be content there. I wish I was. Lucky you.
